Mixology Meets Pizza - Bottomless Brunch Launch, From £30
Looking for a new event to mix things up this spring? Then hustle over to the recently opened bar and distillery Bone Idyll.
Enjoy unlimited Sicilian-style pizza, beer and cocktails, all curated by a team of mixology specialists and crafty chefs.
The stylish venue in Kingston-upon-Thames has become increasingly popular for its small batch spirits and ready-to-drink cocktails and is now taking things to the next level with an indulgent Bottomless Pizza Brunch every weekend, priced from just £30 per person.
With its relaxed kitchen vibe, industrial-inspired décor and chic copper pot stills, this community-funded venture was opened last summer by husband-and-wife team Sam and Alex Berry. The distillery currently produces the brand’s speciality gin, vodka and rum expressions alongside its in-house gin school, where guests can learn what goes into the making of Bone Idyll gin or even develop and distil their very own bottle.
Already successful restaurateurs and mixologists, it’s clear Sam and Alex understand the essence of flavour pairings. “We swapped out the coffee machine for a pizza oven,” says Sam. “Pizza is like sex, if you’re going to use BBQ sauce, you better know what you’re doing. What could be better than unlimited pizza, beer, prosecco and Idyll spirit mixers...nothing, obviously....”
Grandma Slice Pizza
Bringing a slice of New York to the Kingston riverside, the bottomless brunch features the Grandma pizza, originally created by home cooks from Long Island. With its delectably thin signature crust, it’s baked in a square pan and unusually has sauce smothered over the top of the cheese. Think pepperoni overloads, BBQ sauce sexiness served together with Bone Idyll’s spring classic cocktails and you’ve got a match made in heaven.
Just like with their spirits, whilst the pizza is created in a traditional way, the team love to inject a bit of fun by adding their own unique twist. Each pizza is represented by a vintage character – tuck into the Arty-D topped with spicy pepperoni and nduja sausage or the Reginald G with its take on the classic mozzarella, ham and pineapple.
If you’re looking for something more sophisticated, the prosciutto, rocket and balsamic glazed Pink Lady fits the bill, or why not try the bold Carnival Queen featuring a BBQ base topped with mozzarella, chicken, sweetcorn sprinklings and zesty red onion. Meat-free options include the Rollo Stone scattered with baby plum tomatoes, basil, parmesan and drizzled with olive oil.
If you’re feeling brave, the punchy Ziggy Sputnik embraces all of the cheeses: think oozy mozzarella, goats cheese, parmesan and lashings of gorgonzola.
Mixology Masters
You won’t be disappointed with the choice of cocktails on the new spring menu either, which has been expanded to feature the best classics with a little Bone Idyll magic sprinkled on top.
Jo Wilkins, brand ambassador, explains: “Keeping things simple with a selection of classics as well as some signatures to showcase our spirits, try the tropical Long Con to transport you somewhere sunny or the Pretty in Pink for a bit of sweet sophistication. Our menu comes with a handy flavour guide so you can pair your citrus and sour daiquiri with sweet and smoky BBQ pizza. There's a perfect combo for everyone!”
Of course, you don’t have to drink cocktails; beer, wine, prosecco and cider are all on the menu and available in the bottomless deal.
